Training
We offer free training for the public from time to time. However, you can request free training related to SQL-Hero or even general SQL Server topics (for a fee). If you want to attend, please sign up through our meetup.com group to help get an accurate head-count. The next event is scheduled for Friday November 18, 2011 in Corte Madera, CA:
| 9:45 - 10:00 |
Networking, Introductions
|
| 10:00 - 12:00 |
Review PASS 2011 Material
We'll review up-coming data technology from Microsoft using PASS 2011 material as a foundation. Topics will include Power View, Tabular Model, SQL 2012 features, XEvents, Hadoop, and more. We'll see some demos based on CTP3 bits. The basis for this material can be found here: sqlheroguy.wordpress.com.

| 12:00 - 1:00 |
Lunch provided for afternoon attendees (assorted deli sandwiches)
|
| 1:00 - 2:45 |
SQL-Hero: Code generation, Source Control Integration, Create Data and more
We'll take a small set of real-world use cases related to data and break down a complete solution for each of them, using SQL-Hero primarily, but also provide context as they relate to other tools. For example, we'll take a production database with sensitive data, scramble it in a way that preserves cardinalities but obfuscates the most sensitive data, and place it in a "refreshed" QA environment - all from a single command-line invocation. We'll also generate some SQL to support auditing and ensure that TFS source control has been updated correctly when this generated script is applied (as a specific case that's part of a more general use case of executing any arbitrary SQL script and being sure source control is "in sync"). We'll have more to actually demo along these lines as well, so it should provide some good background on what can be solved more simply than you might have imagined with existing (and even some future) tools.

| 3:00 - 4:45 |
SQL-Hero Newest Features: Monitoring, Snapshot Auditing, Background Service, History of Everything, and Roadmap
Continuing from the prior session, we'll take a look at some of the newest SQL-Hero capabilities, or in cases, lesser known features that are important and NEED some attention. If I can't get at least one "ooh" or "ahh", I will owe everyone a beer! We'll also review the SQL-Hero roadmap to get a sense of what to expect in 2012. (Some of the details are "leaked" in my sqlheroguy blog: http://sqlheroguy.wordpress.com) I hope to reserve at least 20 minutes of open discussion time to cover any topics attendees may want to chat freely about - i.e. let's network a bit too.
